    Sub: Request to take action to open Canteen at Palayankottai HO premises

            which was closed temporarily – reg

     We wish to bring the following for the kind notice of the SSPOs., forfavourable orders please.

                 A canteen was functioning in the Palayankottai Head Post Office premises more than 2 decades by the employees of Tirunelveli Division and it was temporarily closed citing that the building in which the canteen was functioning was not suitable.

                 The issue was taken up with the Divisional Administration and the canteen was not opened though we got a positive reply.  The share capital of nearly Rs.60000/- was also credited under UCR.

                 We, further wish to state that nearly 150 employees are working at O/o SSPOs., Tirunelveli Division, Palayankottai HO and PSD, Tirunelveli, all are situated in the same complex.  Employees particularly female staffs have to cross the road to go for tea stall to take tea and other snacks by standing on the road side.  All other organizations which have such a huge staff strength have canteen facility like BSNL, LIC etc., Moreover, going outside during office time will affect the work and time consuming too.

                 The canteen was offering tea, snacks and meals at a cheaper rate with good quality when compared to the other hotels in and around Palayankottai HO.

                 Hence, we would request our SSPOs., to take action to open the canteen which was temporarily closed and his action will be remembered in the history of the Tirunelveli Postal Division for ever.
